Discovery
In the Discovery phase, we work with the client to identify and document the proposed system requirements in detail. We use UML (Unified Modeling Language) as the standard notation in creating use-case diagrams, use-case forms and activity diagrams. These diagrams provide a common ground for system designers and end-users to effectively bridge the gap between the business vision and the technical implementation. A concept catalog is created so a common vocabulary is used in all discussions to prevent misunderstandings. The result of the Discovery phase will be a copy of the Functional Requirements acceptable to all parties.
Decusoft project representatives conduct a series of interviews with all stakeholders in the process. Data gathered from the interviews is compiled along with formal business plans, marketing materials, and information on internal and external systems that will influence the new system. Using all this information, we develop a Functional Requirements document that defines the high-level business requirements and formalizes and prioritizes the functional and technical requirements. Client acceptance of the Functional Requirements completes the Discovery phase. Once complete, a fixed cost estimate for the total project is provided (± 20%).
